Welcome, and congratulations on your journey into parenthood. As you travel this road of pregnancy, birth, and parenting you will find that learning to listen to your own body and your instincts is more important than any book or item you can buy.
I am a DONA trained birth doula, and my job is to help guide you through childbirth, to teach you how to listen to your body during birth, and ultimately help you achieve the birth experience you want.
The presence of a doula has been proven to significantly improve outcomes for moms and babies. The word doula is Greek for "female servant". Click here to learn more about what a doula can do for you.
Below is an overview of the services I offer:
*Free in person or phone consultation.
*During pregnancy I will meet with you a minimum of 2 times. These visits are a time for us to get to know and become comfortable with eachother, to develop ideas for creating a calm and comfy environment where you can picture yourself in early labor, and to discuss your birth wish list or "birth plan". We will discuss the process and practical aspects of birth. We will spend time discussing your personal coping mechanisms and favorite comfort measures so that I can be familiar with them.
*Unlimited telephone and e-mail support to answer your questions and offer suggestions and support throughout pregnancy and early labor.
*Access to my lending library of books and videos about pregnancy, birth and baby care, to support your learning.
*For 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your due date, I will be on call day and night.
*As your labor begins, I will remind you by phone of comfort techniques for your early labor. I will join you in your home or at the hospital when you feel you’d like me to be there. I will continue support in your home during active labor and will make suggestions on timing for transfer to hospital. Once there I provide continuous support throughout your labor and delivery. I will remain with you for 1-2 hours after your baby is born, assist with breastfeeding if you wish.
*1 postpartum visit, where we will discuss your experiences and your story and celebrate the birth of your baby.
